Marc Jacobs (born April 9, 1963) is one of the most well-known and bankable fashion designers in the world. This New Yorker has graced the world with his street-inspired designs that know no bounds.

Mainly known for his completely unpredictable style which does not follow any of the world’s trends, Marc Jacobs started working in fashion at the very young age of fifteen in a little avant-garde shop called Charivari. He attended The Parsons School of Design where he won the Perry Ellis Gold Thimble Award, the Chester Weinberg Godl Thimble Award, and the Design Student of the Year Award all in 1984, at the very young age of 21.
While still in school, Marc Jacobs tried his hand in creating and selling his own line of hand-knit sweaters which was the start of it all. After which, he had a stint with the brand Perry Ellis but was shortly dismissed after designing a certain grunge collection for the line.

Marc Jacobs is most prominently known for being appointed as the creative director of the French fashion house Louis Vuitton in the late 90s, where he initiated great things such as creating the brand’s first ready-to-wear line. He also has his own company and fashion house, with several brand names under it such as The Marc Jacobs Collection, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Little Marc, a brand for kids.

- Received “Designer of the Year” in 1992
- Highly active in many charitable causes
- Co-hosted, with Kate Moss, a “model-and-muse” themed gala for the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art in May 2009
- Included in Time Magazines Top 100 Most Influential People in April 2010
Marc Jacobs has clearly shown that the gift of fashion is not limited by age nor experience. Who can say this man was not born to gift the world with his gorgeous and fabulous designs?
